Several years ago, I developed a vaginal yeast infection. I already had lots of knowledge about a vaginal yeast infection because a friend mine was suffering from it.  But, I never had one before.

The symptoms were very intense itching, burning feeling around my vagina and vulva.  The itching did come and go.  But, when it came, I could not even walk straight.

Another symptom was nasty discharge which is clumpy and white.  But, it was sometimes clear.  It did not smell terrible.  It smelt just like yeast, I mean, like bread.  If it were a bacterial infection, the smell would have been like a fish.
I rushed to a store nearby to buy the medications for yeast infection cure that I can buy without prescription.  The medicines worked only temporarily. So, I set up an appointment with a doctor.  She told me that I made a big mistake taking over-the-counter medicines before seeing her.

She told me why. Suppose that you use some types of yeast infection medication and you don't have any infection at all.  Then, you may be growing very powerful yeast that can beat any medications when you actually develop the yeast infection.

A bacterial infection as well as urinary tract infection and trichomoniasis is other kind of infection.  According to the doctor, many women think that they develop yeast infection when they are suffering from bacterial infection.  Later, she showed me the result of lab test and gave me a confirmation that I have a vaginal yeast infection.

She suggested taking medications.  She emphasized that there are some potential side-effects.  I got prescribed medicines and started to taking them.  I felt better in the beginning.  But, after a while, the symptoms came back.

I had a strong feeling that the doctor would not help me with vaginal yeast infection cure.  Doing my own research was my only option.  I liked to read the postings in women's health forum.  One day, I saw an interesting posing by Cindy.

She suffered from vaginal yeast infection like me.  She was able to cure her infection using alternative treatment.  According to her, the yeast infection never returned to her over twelve months.  It was a little hard for me to believe her story.  But, after exchanging information with her in the forum, I finally gave it a try.

I am so glad I tried.  I have not developed a vaginal yeast infection over 11 months.  I no longer suffer from intense itching and pain.
