So, you think you have a vaginal yeast infection.  But, how do you know that you are really having a yeast infection but not others like bacterial infection or urinary tract infection?  You may choose to dash to a drug store for yeast infection cure and buy some over-the-counter medications such as creams and tablets.

According to a doctor, 80% of women, who think they have yeast infection, misdiagnose themselves.  They usually have something else.  The infection may be easy to treat or it could be worse than yeast infection.  You will really regret it if what you have is something really worse than yeast infection and you keep using yeast infection medication.

When I first thought I had a yeast infection, I made this mistake.  I was doing exercise at my house one day, and, all of a sudden, I started to have an itchy feeling at the area.  The itching was so severe and I was not able to even walk straight.  I called a friend of mine and she brought some creams and tablets I could use.  I saw a doctor two days later.  She regrettably said to me that it was a mistake that I used the medications before consulting with her.

Itching could be No.1 symptom of vaginal yeast infection.  Itching is sometimes so intense and so terrible.  Like I wrote earlier, it was often difficult for me to just stand straight when the severe itching came.  Nearly twenty percents of women (including me) who develop yeast infection experience clumpy discharge like ricotta cheese.  Its color is usually light yellow and often just white.  I had no complaint about the smell.  It was not as bad as you might think...like bread or beer.

Vaginal yeast infection is caused by the fungus known as Candida albicans. They are usually present in your vagina. The bacteria in the vagina prevent the yeast cells to multiply and overgrow. So, you do have the infection.  If the healthy balance between yeast and bacteria breaks, the yeast cells grow and that causes the infection.

I used over-the-counter medications as well as the prescription medications the doctor suggested. But, those medications were good only for brief relief.  They did not make the symptoms go away completely.  So, I looked for natural treatment for my infection and spent lots of time online.  After spending hours on the research, I found natural and alternative ways to cure the infection.  The symptoms were gone within two weeks.

It was different from other times.  The symptoms did not repeat and I have not developed vaginal yeast infection for over 12 months.
